The Modern Greek IAL in more detail:
- Unit 1 (Understanding and Written response) is a 2-and-a-half-hour examination, which includes three sections. Section A: Reading, Section B: Grammar, and Section C: Essay. The topics on which the students will be tested include youth matters, lifestyle, health, fitness, environment, travel, education, and employment.
- Unit 2 (Writing and Research) is a three-hour examination. There are again three sections. Section A: Translation, Section B: Creative/Discursive Essay, and Section C: Research based Essay. The topics in this Unit include youth matters, lifestyle, health, fitness, environment, travel, education, employment, technology, society, and ethics.
The syllabus usually takes 2 years to be covered, but with consistent studying and depending on the student’s knowledge of the Greek language it can be covered comfortably in under one year.
