SAT Subject Tests

*Please note that the SAT Subject Tests were discontinued in June 2021. We are awaiting guidance and updates from Collegeboard and will post as soon as we can.

The SAT Subject Tests were incredibly important in an application though many candidates seem to underestimate or belittle their significance, instead placing the greater emphasis on the SAT Reasoning and/or ACT tests. Many of the best universities required at least 2 SAT Subject Tests and it was not unusual for students to sit five. SAT Subject Tests allowed the students to display their breadth and depth of knowledge and understanding in a wide variety of subjects. For example, someone who wanted to major in History would have stood out more if his or her SAT Subject Tests included Mathematics Level 2 and a language; or a prospective Engineering student would have been a more attractive candidate with History as well as Mathematics and Physics. In short, SAT Subject Tests not only bolstered an application but they also distinguished the really great students from those who were simply good. Most importantly, good scores in the SAT Subject Tests substantially increased your chances of being admitted.
