At AGF Tutoring we are not all reassured by the intermittent missives coming from the UK Ministry of Education. Our general feeling is that UK tertiary education will be market-driven and that fees could more than double in very little time. There are arguments for such a move as unpalatable as it may be. The fact is that UK tertiary education is already expensive in comparison with that of European counterparts. A recent report argues that Brexit could increase UK university costs by almost US$40,000.
Currently, EU students pay the same tuition fees as British students (up to £9,250 (US$12,190) per year). If EU students are treated the same as other international students after Brexit, they could pay up to £38,000 (US$53,700) per year. Brexit could also have an impact on Brits seeking a higher education in Europe, as average fees for non-EU students are considerably higher in many countries across Europe.
